The Diagnostic versus executive coaching

Coaching assumes the answer emerges through a relationship over months. The Diagnostic assumes the answer already exists in your own numbers and history, and that it can be named in a single sitting by someone who has seen the pattern before.

Executive coaching

  • A recurring relationship, usually 6 to 24 months.
  • Works on the founder: behavior, habits, leadership, blind spots over time.
  • The coach holds the process; insight arrives gradually.
  • Commercially incentivized to continue. The engagement is the product.
  • Right when the problem is genuinely developmental and you have the quarters to spend.

The Diagnostic

  • One 90-minute session, €2,500, no retainer and no delegation.
  • Works on the founder and the business as one system, which is what they are.
  • The structural cause is named within the first 45 minutes, defended with your own evidence.
  • Commercially incentivized to be right once. Full refund if no diagnosis is produced.
  • Right when something is coming to a head in the next 30 to 60 days and you need a decision.

Coaching and the Diagnostic answer different questions. Coaching supports development over time. The Diagnostic develops one testable hypothesis about which business issue deserves attention first. The five published cases do not establish that one approach is generally more accurate than the other.

To Book

If coaching has not moved it in months, one session can name it.
